PSS22 Chorus-oke!

Nothing until now has made me want to revisit the 5th grade. The 5th Graders of PS22 in our neighborly parts of Staten Island are an amazing lot of junior karaoke-ers. Under the enthusiastic tutelage of the Talented Mr. B, these kids knock out soulful covers of everything from Lady GaGa, the White Stripes, and the karaoke classic, "Don't Stop Believin'." They've also sung Tori Amos...with Tori Amos and have a celebrity following all of their own.

What can I say, they're just rad. Check out more on their blog + take notes on their radness in the vids below.
Just "feeling the music" is where it's at folks, Mr. B knows what's up. I promise you won't go wrong- even if you are the 1% of actually tone deaf out there [On that note, you're really not. You may protest but we know these things. Were you told this as you were a jumble of puberty?]

PS22 Chorus "Empire State of Mind"*** by Jay-Z + Alicia Keys (with a cleaned up but formidable rap)

PS22 Chorus "Jóga" by Björk
(love the arrangement by Mr. B, complete with delv into cacaphony)

So wishing we could fit these kids into the Baby Grand! Round of mocktails on us.

***For all those who've been asking, we've now got Empire State of Mind in the new song binder.

Baby Grand may be getting her own Baby G for her 1st Birthday. Fortunately, we've combined forces with an accomplished toy pianist. We shall consult her wisdom on such topics while planning her springtime show at the Baby. There will be live performance, stills + spatial video components. It's all very titillating, especially after suffering the first year full of "but there's no piano?"

For a sneak preview of Phyllis Chen's altered toy piano combining forces with Rob Dietz video check out Rob's site. More on their magic late April!
